Who we are
Chough Chat is provided by One Local (Entrepreneurship Enterprises Ltd), United Kingdom. For anything about your data, email support@one-local.co.uk.
Chough Chat is used by delivery businesses ("your team") to coordinate drivers, outlets and dispatch. Your team decides who has an account and which chats they are in.
What we collect
| Data | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Name shown in chats, email address, role (driver, outlet or dispatch), team, password (stored only as a secure hash) | To create your account, sign you in and show who sent each message |
| Messages and content | Text messages, @mentions, collection-time replies, weekly cash figures sent by outlets, the time each message was sent and when you last read a chat | To provide the chat |
| Order labels | A short label for each delivery order, made of the customer's first name, the first letter of their surname and the last three digits of the order number (for example "Sophie L 245"), added to the outlet's chat by your team's ordering system | So the outlet and driver know which order is meant. No full surname, address, phone number, email or basket is stored in Chough Chat. |
| Notification data | A push notification token and device type (iPhone or Android) | To send you notifications for new messages and mentions |
| Outlet tablet data | For shared outlet tablets only: a device key and basic health status (is the app running, is the chat bubble showing) | To keep outlet tablets signed in and working |
| Booking photos | Photos of booking requests or order tickets that an outlet takes in the app. They are made smaller before upload and only the people in that outlet's chat (and your dispatch staff) can see them | So drivers and dispatch can see the booking. Deleted automatically after 90 days, leaving just the words "Booking request" |
| Reports | If you report a message: who reported it, the reason, and a copy of the reported message | To deal with abuse and keep the service safe |
| Technical logs | IP address, time and type of request, error details | Security, preventing abuse and fixing faults |
Voice dictation. If you use the microphone button, your phone's built-in speech recognition (provided by Apple or Google) turns your speech into text. We don't receive or store the audio, only the text you choose to send.
The camera is only used when you choose to take a booking photo. We don't collect your location, contacts, photo library or advertising identifiers, and we don't use analytics or advertising tools.
How we use it and our legal basis
- Providing the service (accounts, chats, notifications, support): necessary to provide Chough Chat to you and your team (contract), and our and your team's legitimate interest in running deliveries.
- Security and fixing problems: our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and working.
- Legal requirements: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
We never use your data for advertising, never sell it, and never use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Who can see your data
- People in your chats see your name and the messages you send there. Your team's dispatch staff can see all of your team's chats.
- Service providers who process data for us under contract and only on our instructions:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and hosting (our project is hosted in London, UK).
- Expo, Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivering notifications.
- Hostinger: hosting this website.
- Authorities, only where the law requires it.
Some providers (for example Expo, Apple and Google) may process notification data outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Account details: until your account is deleted.
- Messages: for as long as your team uses Chough Chat, because they form your team's working record. If your team stops using Chough Chat, its chats are deleted on request.
- When you delete your account: your email, sign-in, notification tokens and chat memberships are removed straight away and your name is replaced with "Deleted user". Messages you already sent stay in your team's chats under "Deleted user".
- Booking photos: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Technical logs: a short period (normally days to a few weeks).
Deleting your account
In the app, open your profile (the circle with your initial), tap Delete my account and confirm. Shared outlet tablet accounts are managed by your team, so ask your dispatcher to remove one. You can also email support@one-local.co.uk from the email address on your account and we will delete it for you.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, delete or move your data, and you can object to or ask us to restrict how we use it. Email support@one-local.co.uk and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, passwords are stored only as secure hashes, and each person can only read the chats they belong to.
Children
Chough Chat is a work tool and is not intended for anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
